Perfect fit and attention to detail

The fit is absolutely perfect, and the fabric feels incredibly soft against the skin. You can really tell it’s made with attention to detail and comfortable yet stylish. I’ve already received compliments, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase!

Celeste - One Shoulder Floral Maxi Dress

★★★★★

Real sleeves, not puffy ones

Every “sleeved” dress I tried had elastic puff cuffs that made me look like I was about to churn butter. These sleeves just fall to the elbow, light enough that I wasn’t cooking at an outdoor ceremony. For once I didn’t spend the day taking a cardigan on and off. The 14 fit exactly as the measurements said.

Lovely in the shade, warm in full sun

Gorgeous colour, and it moves beautifully. Honest review: it’s a lined synthetic, so standing in full sun at a 32-degree garden ceremony I was warm. Under the marquee it was fine, and it didn’t crease at all after sitting. Check the fabric on the page so you know what you’re getting. I’d buy it again for an evening or indoor event.

Skims, doesn’t cling

I usually avoid wrap styles because they cling to my middle by lunchtime. This one has a gathered waist that actually holds its shape, and the skirt drops away from there. I sat through a three-hour reception and never once tugged at it or wished I’d worn shapewear.

Same price as hiring, and I kept it

I was going to hire a dress for $99 and hand it back on Monday. I paid about the same here, and I’ve now worn it to a wedding and to my sister’s 50th. Two rounds of compliments for one dress.

Normal bra, thank goodness

I was sick of beautiful dresses that need an engineering marvel of a strapless bra. I wore my everyday bra and nothing showed at the back or the arms. I took a star off because the V is a touch deeper than I’d like, but a small safety pin sorted it.

My daughter checked them first

My daughter won’t let me buy off Facebook anymore, so she checked the reviews, the returns policy and the fabric listing before I ordered. Delivery took about two weeks, which the site did say. The 16 was a little loose, and the exchange for a 14 was quick and easy. One star off for the wait.

Three outfits for the price of one

I bought the set for a wedding, then wore the top with jeans to dinner and the pants to work the following week. That’s cheaper than hiring a dress and handing it back on Monday.

Finally not a nanna dress

I went to Myer twice, and everything was either a stiff beige jacket or something my daughter would wear to her formal. This one sat right in the middle: deep brown, soft drape, and it looked like me, just dressed up. My son’s bride said I looked “so elegant” and I’ll take that. True to the size chart. One note: steam it first, because mine came out of the bag creased.

Our core values

The Pillars of Laverdale

Four rules we hold ourselves to. They decide what we choose, what we reject, and how we photograph it.

01.

Made For Real Women

Cut for how women actually live, not for how a mannequin stands. Chosen for women who want to feel like themselves.

02.

Fit, Made Right

A real size chart on every product page, with garment measurements taken flat, so you can check the fit before you buy, not after.

03.

Dressed for the Day You’ll Remember

The wedding. The milestone birthday. The photo that ends up framed. We ask one question of every piece: will she love how she looks in it, years from now?

Effortless Elegance

No 'slimming', no 'forgiving', no 'for your age'. A piece either fits beautifully, or we don't carry it.
